A very early song of mine, written for Annie Wegl.
lyrics
Hurricane Annie
Words and Music by Narciso Lobo, Jr.
Well she holds the holy wind right in her hand, and she tells me not to worry because what will be will come to be. And if I try to tempt her divinity, she just laughs.
She says, "Baby, I can understand 'cause I've been thinking for a while and I've come to the decision that all we need is a little rain to wash us clean."
I said, "I don't know if I can row my little boat. I don't know if I can steer it or face the fear that faith can bring. I stand upon the bow, but I can't see through this fog."
And she smiles at me, embraces me, and just in case she kisses me. And suddenly I'm breathing; suddenly I can see that I don't mind a little rain to wash us clean.
And I welcome the wind. Yes, I welcome the wind and I said, "Here is my anchor and here is my map. Here is my compass and here is my hand. Take me 'round the world today, be my guide. Like a fallen autumn leaf, on your wind I will ride, I will ride.
Now I've read every single story about the sea. Yes, I've heard of all the rumors, but who can tell if they were true. I guess you know what happened in the end, that's all I can say. But you can forget about the fairytale romances, forget about the movies; don't even think about the poetry, ‘cause all you need is a little rain to you clean.
And I welcome the wind. Yes, I welcome the wind and I said, "Here is my anchor and here is my map. Here is my compass and here is my hand. Take me 'round the world today, be my guide. Like a fallen autumn leaf, on your wind I will ride, I will ride.
